Cursed by Carol Higgins Clark

Carol Higgins Clark is the daughter of author Mary Higgins Clark. She isn't quite as well-known as her mother is but she has become a popular author and has co-authored several Christmas mystery books with her.
Cursed is the 12th book in her Regan Reilly series which begins with Decked. Regan is a private detective who currently resides in New York. Her friend Abigail calls her from Los Angeles where Regan used to live. Abigail believes that she is cursed because she was born on Friday the 13th and has 13 letters in her name. Now she has even more reason to believe that she is cursed because her exboyfriend hasn't paid back the large sum of money he borrowed from her and now he has disappeared with it. She frantically begs Regan to come help her find him before her grandmother finds out.
Once Regan gets to LA, she is subjected to all kinds of trouble including an earthquake and a crazy stalker, oh and of course, a murder.
Like her mother, Carol Higgins Clark can be relied on to provide a clean, quick, lightweight read. There is little in the book that would be offensive, other than the murder of course.
The book was very short, only a little over 200 pages, and even with that had many abbreviated chapters which created a lot blank spaces. I would have liked to see the characters and the story line fleshed-out much more. It felt like it wasn't quite ready for publication. Rated PG for the murder and some mild swearing and adult situations.
