By Heresies Distressed by David Weber

By Heresies Destressed is the third book in the Safehold series by David Weber. The premise of the series is that "Old Earth" as it is known was destroyed and the surviving humans live on "Safehold". They have a religion that is anti-technology and so they are very distrustful of any technological advances. After 800 years, there is schism within the church. The church leaders have become quite corrupt, seeking after wealth and power and often using questionable methods to obtain them. War erupts between the "heretics" as the church sees them and those who follow the corrupt church leaders.
This seems like an interesting series but it is much too wordy and difficult to understand. Lots of characters with odd names (names tend to be spelled with lots of y's and h's) make it difficult to keep everyone straight. Honestly, once the f-words started piling up I was relieved to shut the book and give up on reading it. Too bad, it could have been an interesting series. Rated R for language.
